Dr. Chang holds a BS in Biology from the University of Texas-Austin and received his MD from the University of Texas Medical Branch-Galveston. He completed his Intership/Residency at the Texas Tech University Health Science Center in Amarillo.
In 1985 he received the Outstanding Performance Award for rotating residents in surgery, VA Medical Center, Amarillo, was named outstanding first year resident and was a resident candidate for the Mead-Johnson award for graduate education in family practice.
In 1986 he was the outstanding second year resident.
In 1987 he was Chief Resident, Department of Family Practice.

He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Society and the Tom Green County Medical Society.
